What Vitamins are good for skin pigmentation?

Vitamin C: One of the most important vitamins to your skin's overall health is vitamin C which plays a key role in the production of collagen in your skin.  Vitamin C is also an antioxidant and works to brighten the skin's tint but its value to skin pigmentation is its tyrosinase inhibitors.  These inhibitors help prevent enzymes in your body from creating excessive amounts of melanin-your skin's pigment-in response to a skin injury such as overexposure to sunlight.  This can cause dark splotches on the skin in areas that were harshly burnt by sunlight. 

Vitamin B12: Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of skin in certain parts of your body.  This skin problem can develop from overexposure to sun but also can be cause by numerous diseases.  One such cause is Vitamin B12 deficiency.  Vitamin B12 helps regulate your skin's pigment production and location, thereby preventing hyperpigmentation from plaguing your skin and ruining your complexion.  The best way to take vitamin B12 is as a vitamin supplement or part of a multivitamin.

Changes associated with skin aging:

​Wrinkles: (depressions in the skin's surface) occur as a result of a reduction in muscle mass and skin thickness, cross-linking of collagen and elastin (loss of elasticity) and dehydration.

Dehydration: Hyaluronic Acid helps retain the skin's natural moisture balance, but diminishes as early as our forties.  This loss is most likely the cause of dehydration and loss of tautness, which contributes to altered elasticity.

A slowdown in cell turnover/cell renewal: the natural sloughing of older cells slows as we age, causing a build up resulting in dull, thick skin with less tone.  On average, cell renewal takes from 28 to 35 days in midlife and from 40 to 60 days in maturity.

Hyperpigmentation: (excess pigment) spots are the result of cumulative UV exposure and/or hormones.  While hyperpigmentation can be triggered by certain medications and pregnancy, it is mostly triggered by excessive exposure to UV light.
